Key Benefits Across the Sensor Portfolio
- A / B-Series coverage for both portable and fixed EtO systems.
- Bias-operated electrochemical design optimized for ppm-range EtO sensing in industrial safety, environmental air quality analysis and process control.
- IST “+” options reduce design complexity and support plug-and-play replacement in the field.
Why OEMs Choose Alphasense
- Shared electronics, AFEs and ISBs across EtO and other biased toxic sensors (NO, NH3,VOC) streamline board designs.
- Established application know-how in sterilisation, environmental air quality, and industrial safety.
- Long-term product availability and consistent electrochemical platforms support regulatory qualification and fleet stability.
How Sensors Work
EtO sensors follow the same electrochemical amperometric mechanism used across the Alphasense toxic portfolio, with a biased working electrode tuned for EtO oxidation. The resulting current is proportional to EtO concentration, and instrument electronics or IST boards handle temperature compensation, calibration data and signal conditioning.
Why Measure Ethylene Oxide Gas
Ethylene oxide is widely used for sterilising medical devices, treating food products and in chemical manufacture. It is flammable and toxic, with strict exposure limits and regulatory controls. Continuous EtO monitoring helps:
- Maintain worker safety in sterilisation suites, warehouses and production areas.
- Demonstrate compliance with occupational exposure and environmental emission requirements.
