Particulates/ aerosols are probably the most dangerous components of poor air quality. We now know that the size and composition of these particulates determine their toxicity. Designed by aerosol scientists and engineered by Alphasense, these OPCs have been extensively tested in both clean and high pollution urban environments. Validated by research organisations and university laboratories worldwide, all OPCs provide digital outputs of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 every second, along with histograms of the particle count for each size. Our (patent pending) flow correction ensures stable readings, even in high dust environments.
The OPC-N3 has taken the success of the older OPC-N2 unit and improved it further. Following long term projects in very polluted urban environments, Alphasense has further ruggedised the OPC-N range. With the same dimensions and power/ interface as the N2, the OPC-N3 now measures from 0.35μm to 40 μm, sorting into 24 size bins.
Features include improved aerodynamics with reduction of particle deposition, better low end performance, extended upper size measurements and high/low flow rate digital selection. The OPC-N3 can measure from clean rooms to pollution levels to 2,000 μg/m3 with the unique feature of being able to size speciate pollen.

The OPC-R1 gives excellent performance in a small size and at low cost. Using laser scattering technology, the OPC-R1 has a clean flow path with 1.6L/minute flow rate, collimated optics and flow rate correction. The removable flow exit adaptor allows easy system integration; the SPI interface and PC analysis software make for simple data collection and analysis. With 16 sized bins, you can record PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 every second, along with size histograms, critical when you need to know more than just the PM.
